Milwaukee's 18-volt Li-Ion equipped tools provide up to 50-percent longer run times than 18-volt Ni-Cad equipped tools, while at the same time offering "fade-free" power until the battery is completely drained. A fuel gauge is also included that displays the battery's remaining run-time. The 0822-20 18V 1/2" Driver-Drill comes standard with an all-metal, single-sleeve, ratcheting chuck with carbide jaws to keep bits from falling out or slipping. A comfortable non-slip, soft-grip handle reduces vibration and fatigue, and the drill comes with a side handle for added drilling/driving stability. This tool will run using Milwaukee's 18-volt Ni-Cad or Li-Ion batteries for added convenience.

Top quality
After 40 years of using power tools, I can say this is the best drill I've ever used. Even the heavy all-metal drills of the old days weren't the equal of this baby... It'll run hole saws, drive long deck screws and drill the toughest materials hour after hour without the slightest sign of strain. The trigger is smooth and the battery is a horse. If you're turning something large, you'd better hold on tight and stay ready to ease off the variable speed trigger, cause it ain't gonna bog down... I've used every major brand, and this one takes the prize. The only step up would be a Milwaukee with a cord, if you are always near an outlet.

One month of excellence
As indicated I have only had this drill for one month, it being purchased as a replacement for an older ryobi cordless. In this month it has been put through the ringer (mostly sinking long screws, little drilling to date) about three days a week and done very well. Plenty of power and battery life - you can use the two batteries at full tilt all day without any lag between alternating charge times. The chuck is impressively engineered, and I have not had a single bit slip on me in this time. Also the cushioning is a nice touch. I scoffed at it out of the box, but when I dropped it, there was a 'thud' but no 'whack' which was nice.
Make sure you don't want a hammer drill feature if you are purchasing this product.
My only warning thus far has to do with the weight. If you are going to be using it for long stretches in the vertical register, know that the extra pounds add up. It has not been too much for me yet, but I am aware of the weight, whereas it never even registered with the ryobi. I could see the weight making this wonderful tool a bad experience for some.
